UNADILLA, GEORGIA - SOUTHERN PINES RV PARK

Arrived November 7, 2011 and staying till November 22nd.  Then on to Orlando.  ROD Park right off I-75 about half way between Atlanta and the Florida/Georgia State Line.  First day just got set up after driving from Kentucky.  Second day did some fix-up around the bus and then took a tour of the area.  Went out to nearby cotton fields and watched the workers harvest the cotton crop.  Actually picked a few cotton blooms to see what they were like and now Joan is a "Cotton Pickin Expert"!  Very interesting as entire fields were harvested by 3 men in big, big machines.  What happened to the laborers who hand-picked the cotton and put it in bags over their shoulder?  This is now all automated.  Had BBQ at a local shop and wasn't impressed.  This is supposed to be BBQ Land!  Ours is better.  Future sightseeing includes Jimmy Carter's Presidential Museum in Plains, GA and visiting a peanut farm. Also, eating Georgia Pecan Pie and Georgia Peaches (maybe out of a can since they are out of season?).  Have to do that when the time is right.

Joan explained how the cotton grows (she worked for USDA 15 years) and now she is a "Cotton Pickin Expert"!

Now that's a big bale of cotton!!

The combine collects the cotton and puts it in this hopper to be compressed.

I looked for the country girl in bare feet but didn't see her.

A one horse town.

Several classic old houses in the town.
